Role Overview

We're looking for a Content Creator & Social Media Lead to join the RMC team in a hands-on marketing and content role. You'll be actively contributing to how we show up online and in front of customers, from distributors to architects across Canada.

You'll shoot photos and short videos at our Lumby shop and on job sites, edit them into Reels and TikToks, and manage our Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, and YouTube Shorts accounts. You'll work directly with the owners we point you at the products and the stories, you turn them into content.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and shoot 1–2 photo and video sessions per month at our Lumby shop, on job sites, or at distributor locations

  • Edit and produce 8–12 short-form Reels per month for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Pinterest

  • Manage our content calendar, scheduling, posting, captions, hashtags, and responding to comments

  • Build and maintain themed Pinterest boards that match our visual direction (this is our #1 channel, so Pinterest matters a lot here)

  • Keep a consistent visual identity across all platforms

  • Write a monthly email newsletter (~300–500 words) for our distributor and customer list

  • Help put together presentation slides and pitch decks as needed

What We're Looking For

  • Active personal presence on social media with a strong understanding of current trends, formats, and platform-specific best practices

  • Demonstrated experience creating social media content, especially Instagram Reels, short-form video, or LinkedIn, a portfolio or examples are a strong asset

  • Strong photography skills, including the ability to shoot polished product, lifestyle, and process imagery suitable for use across digital channels

  • Comfortable with slide design tools (PowerPoint, Canva, Google Slides) and able to produce polished, on-brand materials

  • Self-starter who can manage competing deadlines without heavy oversight in a lean, fast-moving environment

  • A strong sense of design and visual aesthetics, with the ability to maintain a cohesive brand identity across multiple platforms

  • Bonus: experience with email marketing platforms (Mailchimp, Klaviyo), video editing tools (CapCut, Premiere Pro), or CMS platforms

  • Bonus: comfort using AI tools to enhance workflow and efficiency

  • Bonus: Pinterest Business or Pinterest Ads experience

Work Schedule & Location

  • Hours: 5–10 hours per week during the 30-day trial period, with the option to scale to 15–20 hours per week based on performance and mutual fit.

  • Schedule: Flexible. We don't watch the clock. We watch the calendar of posts going out and the quality of the content shipping.

  • Location: Primarily in-person at our Lumby, BC facility for the first 30–60 days while you learn our products, our team, our customers, and our brand. As you become comfortable with the work and we build trust in the output, the role can shift to a hybrid arrangement with regular travel to Lumby for shoot days. BC-based applicants strongly preferred (interior BC or Okanagan ideal).

  • Engagement type: Independent contractor, ongoing. The first 30 days serve as a mutual trial period, we'll evaluate fit and output together at the 30-day mark and decide on next steps. Strong performers continue with expanded hours and scope. 30-day notice on either side after the trial period.
