Concrete caps are the finished top of a masonry wall, post, or pillar, precast pieces that crown the structure and shed water away from the face, keeping moisture out of the masonry below. Choosing the right cap
A pitched top that sheds water to both sides, the classic choice, and our most popular wall cap profile. On a post, the peak crowns the pillar.
A simple flat top with clean lines. Comes in the widest size range, and suits modern and traditional walls alike.
A crisp angled edge for a modern line along the top of a wall or post, while still shedding water off the face.
A flat top with a rounded edge for a softer, finished look. Cast as our flat bullnosed wall cap profile.
A post cap profile that combines a peak with a flat platform on top, ideal for mounting a light fixture, finial, or other feature.

Sizing
Measure the finished width of the wall or post, including any veneer, stone, or stucco, not just the block underneath. The cap should cover that full width and overhang slightly on each exposed side, so it throws water clear of the face instead of letting it run down the masonry. A small overhang, roughly an inch per side, is the usual mark.
For a wall, you also need the length of the run, so your dealer can work out how many caps it takes and whether the run ends in a corner or a pillar. For a post, measure both directions across the top, since pillars are not always square. Every stock size we cast is listed with exact dimensions and weights on the wall caps and post caps pages, and if your measurement falls between stock sizes, our mold shop casts the cap to your dimension instead of forcing a near fit.
Installation
Both work, and masons argue about it over coffee. A full mortar bed is the traditional method: it beds the cap solidly, takes up small irregularities in the top course, and suits caps on walls that see weather from every side. Modern masonry adhesive (a polyurethane construction adhesive rated for exterior masonry) is faster and cleaner, bonds strongly, and is the common choice for post caps and for re-setting a cap that has come loose.
Whichever you use, the top of the masonry should be clean, dry, and level before the cap goes on, and joints between caps on a wall run get pointed with mortar or a colour-matched exterior sealant so water cannot get underneath. On tall pillars and anywhere wind load matters, a mechanical bond, mortar, or adhesive is not optional: an unbonded cap is a heavy object waiting for a reason to move.

Our wall and post caps are stocked by building centres and masonry suppliers across Western Canada. We supply through our dealer network rather than selling direct, so use our dealer locator to find the store nearest you and call them for stock and pricing.
